December 2006:Chemung County P25 System Installed
Chemung Counties P25 system is installed and functioning in analog mode. When the phone company completes installing the required phone lines the system will be switched to digital.
October 2006: Chemung County P25 nears deployment
The first county wide deployment of a digital P25 system in New York state will soon be installed by Mid-State Communications. The Motorola Astro P25 system will provide Chemung County Sheriff with a state of the art, integrated voice and data, digital radio system based on the APPCO P25 standard. There are other installed P25 systems in New York state but this will be the first county wide system.
September 2006: Dam Warning Project
Mid-State Communications has been awarded a $373,000 contract with Schoharie County to provide a Whelen Outdoor Warning Siren System to warn residents in case of potential flooding associated with the unlikely event of issues with the Gilboa Dam. The sirens are on order and we estimate delivery in late December and installation to begin in mid-January, depending on weather conditions. The system is a mixture of warning tone and voice sirens, with the voice systems to be used near campgrounds and state parks. www.gilboadaminfo.com
September 2006: Vernon Downs chooses Mid-State Communications
Vernon Downs, the Premier Gaming, Racing and Entertainment Destination of the Central New York Region, has chosen Mid-State Communications to provide their radio communications.The portables that Vernon will be using is the Icom F-43TR. www.vernondowns.com
August 2006: Tioga Downs chooses Mid-State Communications Tioga Downs, the Premier Gaming, Racing and Entertainment Destination of the Twin Tiers Region, has chosen Mid-State Communications to provide their radio communications. The portables they chose are the Kenwood TK-3140 portable. www.tiogadowns.com
July 2006: Second Annual Safety Day
On July 14, 2006, Mid-State Communications held its second annual Safety Day. All non-emergency operations were shut down and the work day was dedicated to safety seminars, discussions and equipment inspections. This special day, in addition to our weekly safety meetings, pre-climb safety meeting, safety manual and other safety programs reinforce our commitment to safety each and every day. July 2006: Town of Malta adds third Whelen Siren
The town of Malta, NY has added a third siren to the 2 previous two sold and installed by Mid-State. The third siren will be used expand their coverage area. Malta will use the Whelen siren system to provide warning of severe weather conditions or for any potential hazardous material event on the nearby Interstate Route 87.
April 2006: P1225 falls from tower
A member of our own tower crew, Butterfingers McGirk *, dropped this Motorola P1225 from a tower. It dropped 180 feet to a gravel pad.
It suffered a cracked case and bent antenna socket. However, other than that, it continues to work! Now that's a tough radio!

March 2006 Mid-State Antenna Technicians attended a Andrew Teletilt training school and are now Teletilt certified.

March 2006: State Wide Maintenance Contract Mid-State Communications was recently awarded a contract by a New York State agency to provide maintenance and emergency service on their statewide system of over 400 antenna systems, over 100 towers and support structures and over 50 emergency power generators. Mid-State also held the previous contract for this service.
March 2006: Chemung County Motorola P25 Digital System Mid-State Communications will be installing the new county wide, Motorola P25 digital radio system, for the Chemung County, NY Sheriff's Department and the other county law enforcement agencies. Some of the components of the system have started to arrive at Mid-State for staging prior to installation.
March 2006: Otsego County Plant E911 System Mid-State Communications will be installing, as a Motorola project, a Plant Equipment E911 Phone System for Otsego County, NY.
March 2006: Madison County Motorola Gold Elite Console Mid-State Communications will be installing as part of a Motorola project a new 4 position, Motorola Gold Elite radio dispatch console for Madison County, NY. Below is part of the CEB, the Central Electronics Bank.
